Through community advocacy, Save Gilray! has mobilized local residents to safeguard the Gilray Scout Campsite from potential development, ensuring it remains a cherished resource for future generations and a hub for youth & community engagement<\/p>

The Evolution of Save Gilray! A Community Initiative for Heritage Preservation, Placemaking & Grassy Park Legacy creation <\/h3>

Save Gilray was formed in response to the City of Cape Town’s plans to sell or repurpose the historic Gilray Scout Campsite. Local residents, community leaders, youth leaders, local organisations and environmental & heritage advocates united to protect this precious green space, actively campaigning for public consultation and community involvement in decisions affecting the area. Over a short time and in response to City of Cape Town – Rapid Disposal undertakings, we’ve built a strong coalition that emphasizes collaboration, civic pride, and environmental & cultural respect & continuity<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
